Letter from the President

Dear Framingham State Alumni and Friends,

I’m a great fan of paper—all kinds: stationery for writing letters, elegant wrapping paper, detailed old maps, Venetian endpapers in books and newspapers. It’s not just the infinite variation and beauty
of the medium that I love, but equally the power that paper carries. When we print something on paper, it holds permanence and can be shared, then considered, debated, and held on to for future reference. The words and images on paper can spark ideas which, as people have known now for at least
a millennium, can spark serious unrest.

As such, you might understand the leap of faith we’re making by introducing Framingham State University’s first digital alumni newsletter. Through this medium, we can save valuable resources (both dollars and trees) while adding in more pictures and introducing videos.

We can add and edit copy quickly, and maintain an updated mailing list very easily. We can also link to other stories that highlight the extraordinary things our FSU alumni are up to.

And what achievements our alumni are creating! In this issue, you’ll read about some of

our newest alums as they enter the Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) market. HTM is now a rapidly growing field as, post-pandemic, there is once again a global hunger for travel and adventure. Multiple internships and externships are built into FSU’s program to provide students with a deeper understanding of the business of hospitality. These diverse learning experiences lead them to great opportunities, expanding the fRAMily across the country and overseas.

As you accompany our professors and our new HTM grads throughout their travels, we hope that our more realistic

digital format will enable you to experience their amazing achievements vicariously.

Wherever you may find yourself this fall, I hope that you will enjoy the journey. Send us a (digital) postcard and tell us about your adventures.
