Murtaugh’s contributions have significantly enriched the campus community, from endowing multiple student scholarships and supporting study abroad programs to being the lead donor for Framingham State’s completion grant program. Her generosity extends to the Danforth Art Museum at Framingham State; the University’s comfort dog, Ramsey; the Lifelong Learning program and the Henry Whittemore Library. She is also the force behind the library’s RAMS Renew Space for health, wellness and reflection.
“Joan’s dedication to Framingham State is infused throughout our programs — indeed, her contributions have touched virtually every aspect of our institution,” FSU President Nancy S. Niemi said during the celebration. “Joan’s work with her alma mater illustrates the power of alumni. I am so proud that I will have the honor of remembering that power every day, as I look next door at the Joan E. Murtaugh ’61 Alumni Center!”
She currently serves on the Framingham State University Alumni Association and Foundation Board and is a past recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award for Distinguished Service. Murtaugh’s unwavering support reflects her profound commitment to enhancing both the educational and cultural experiences of students, faculty and staff at Framingham State.
