If you’ve spent any time on Framingham State University’s social media channels, you’ve likely come across the work of Kenzy Bakr El Sayed ’26. The budding media strategist has been putting her talents to work as an intern in the Marketing and Communications Office at Framingham State since 2024.
“I’m really interested in the way you can reach people and communicate emotions and ideas using pictures, video and graphics on social media,” says El Sayed, who is in her senior year as a Communications and Media Studies major, with a minor in Marketing.
El Sayed is an international student from Egypt who found Framingham State while visiting relatives who live in Massachusetts. She was attracted to the school’s proximity to Boston, its small campus and the Communication, Media and Performance Department.
“The Communications Arts program combines my interests in media, advertising and filmmaking all into one major,” she says. “I also find the small class sizes very helpful. Professors are really focused on each of their students.”
El Sayed has made the most of her time at Framingham State. In addition to her internship in the Marketing and Communications Office, she is the marketing and events coordinator for FSU’s Entrepreneur Innovation Center (EIC), where she works alongside actual entrepreneurs trying to get their business ideas off the ground. In that role, she also helped the EIC with research and a rebrand project, and last spring she coordinated a trip to the Entrepreneurship Summit at Harvard Business School.
“It was a great networking opportunity and a chance to hear from industry leaders about the challenges of launching a business,” she says.
El Sayed is also president of the Marketing Club, a publicist for the Fashion Club and the Public Relations Club, and a member of the dance team.
“Getting engaged outside of classes is a great way to make friends on campus,” she says. “The dance team doesn’t require any prior experience so that was really welcoming. It’s nice to have an activity to do after class, and it’s always a good way to get my mind off of stress.”
After graduating next spring, El Sayed plans to return to her family in Egypt and hopes to launch a career in social media advertising.
